Cycle Tracks and Hire

Whether you’re looking for a flat, traffic-free family-friendly tracks and bike hire, or a challenging ride through stunning scenery, here are some ideas. We’re surrounded by cycle tracks and great terrain and can store your bikes.

Tissington Trail

We’re perfectly placed close to the start of the Tissington Trail in Ashbourne, a 13 mile long track which follows the path of an old railway. It’s great for cycling and walking.

We park at  Ashbourne Cycle Hire Centre, Mappleton Road, Ashbourne DE6 2AA, which is 8 minutes drive away.

You can head just short of Buxton, or into Ashbourne, with lots of pretty stops along the way. Tissington is often called one of the prettiest villages in the UK, with it’s avenue of 200 year old lime trees, duck pond and Jacobean Manor. There is a tea room in the village, a vintage sweet shop or a snack bar and picnic tables on the cycle track.

Parsley Hay marks the other end of the track to Ashbourne, and connects to the High Peak cycle trail which takes you out along another 17.5 miles of track towards Cromford.

Manifold Trail

Waterhouses is also about 8 minutes drive and marks the start of the Manifold Trail, another old railway converted into a cycle/walking track.  You can hire bikes at Brown End Farm. Look out for Brown End Farm cycle hire signs as soon as you come down the hill into the village.

We loved paddling in the stream at the stunning Wetton Mill cafe at the other end of the track.
